Are tired of eating Aramark? Want to try something with a little more pang? Get off campus? Go to Palmyra! The Syrian restaurant conveniently located a 5 minute walk away from the Hauptbanhof It’s the perfect place for a night out with friends for a relaxing evening and amazing food.
Here is some insight on my experience at this special little corner of downtown. Upon arriving there, the server came to the table and poured each of us a complimentary cup of traditional Oriental tea and handed out the menus. Offering a wide range of delicacies including a good number of vegetarian dishes, each course is served with generous helpings from prices as low as 6 Euros (for lunch) or 12 Euros (for dinner) for a 3 course meal. We decided to order from the 3 course menu consisting of Masa (6 different appetizer dishes/person), a salad, and the main course. When the Masa arrived, there was an amazing 24 selections to choose from. The number was not the only impressive part, each of the 24 were so delightful to the very last morsel. The main course arrived shortly after we finished the Masa, piping hot and was served literally right off the pan unto a bed of hummus along with the salad. The main dish was plentiful and equally as savory as the appetizer had been. To give an idea, the typical Syrian food that can be experienced here is infused with rich spices, made with fresh produce, and/or most typically lamb (choices of beef and chicken are also available) with the side of home-made hummus drizzled with olive oil and toasty pita bread right out the oven. All in all, Palmyra can easily be said to be the best restaurant that I have eaten at yet in my stay here in Bremen. Rating: 4.5 out of 5 ducks!
