The new semester started promising for the Jacobs' female football team. On February 11, 2007, we invited the local ladies and girls teams from SV Grohn - the club just next to the pool.

Time constraints prevented any prior practice, so the eight brave Jacobs girls - Esther, Eva, Raiha, Annika, Monsu, Dorothea, Gina and Carola - who came to defend our reputation and honour, were understandably nervous that Sunday afternoon. After some initial problems such as getting balls, we were as prepared as we could possibly be, (faces painted and all!), when our opponents arrived. Although SV Grohn brought numerous spectators and supporters with them, it was Jacobs who won the first match to everyone's surprise! Thanks to Ronaldinho-like Esther and our libero Annika, SV Grohn simply didn't have a chance; only towards the end could the SV Grohn make their first and only goal, despite our goalie Monsu's amazing performance.

In the end, both Jacobs and SV Grohn concluded that the tournament (three matches) was a big success, and we can't wait until the next one, presumably in fall 2007.
