Let me make one thing clear from the outset: donating blood is a necessary and positive action to take. It saves lives. Many countries have a huge lack of blood on reserve. That’s why I found it particularly surprising that Deutsches Rotes Kreuz, along with many other national Red Cross organizations, delineates a whole list of people whose blood is not welcome.
